Athletic Code of Conduct at Athletic Events
- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
- I will not engage in any behavior that would endanger the health, safety, or well-being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in any behavior that would endanger the health, safety, or well-being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
- I will not use drugs or alcohol while at school sponsored events, during the school year, and will not attend, coach, officiate or participate in a school sponsored event, during the school year, while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- I will not permit my child, or encourage any other person, to use drugs or alcohol at a school sponsored event; and I will not permit my child, or encourage any other person, to attend, coach, officiate, or participate in a school sponsored event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- I will not engage in the use of profanity while attending a school-sponsored event.
- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in the use of profanity while attending a school sponsored event.
- I will treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official, or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.
- I will encourage my child to treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.
- I will not engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official, or any other attendee.
- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official, or any other attendee.
- I will not initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player participant, official, or any other attendee.
- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official, or any other attendee.
- I will honor the twenty-four (24) hour rule, (after a contest, I will wait at least 24 hours before I contact a coach to schedule a meeting).
Non-compliance or violations to the above at any MHSAA or school sponsored event will result in, but not limited to, the following:
- Verbal/written warning by the conference or school official.
- Suspensions/removal from said game or season by conference or school official.
- Banishment from all athletic events for the current school year with a complaint filed by the local police department.
