JHS Weekly Announcements
Good evening Viking families!
This is Mr. Coffie with this week’s high school announcements. Happy New Year! We hope you had time to rest, relax, and enjoy family and friends during the holiday season.
Just a reminder that our day begins at 7:20am with doors opening at 7:00am. Students who have a pattern of being late to school and classes without a medical excuse will be referred to our attendance coordinator for further review. After 7:35am, students are only allowed to exit and enter the building via the Welcome Center.
Tutoring has started again for the second trimester. It takes place each day Monday- Thursday from 2:30- 3:40 in room 012 for JHS students and Mon- Friday for Pathways students in 011 and 017.
We are excited to introduce the Minga to our students and staff! Minga will be used for hall passes, student IDs and to keep students aware of the things going on around school. For more information about the Minga, see this week’s newsletter. We are excited about this program and what it can do for our school!
Student ids are in the grade level office and students should stop by to pick them up. Students will not be allowed to attend athletic events without their ids. Students from other schools will no longer be allowed in our athletic events without an adult. This includes elementary and middle school students.
Cell phones and headphones are to be kept off and away while students are in class. Coats and backpacks including totes and purses are to be kept in lockers during the day. Please remind your young person of these very important JHS policies.
To learn more about what is happening at the high school, check out the Weekly Newsletter (https://www.smore.com/u8m19) The newsletter is frequently updated throughout the week, as well as posts to our social media page and app.
At Jackson High School, know that you are loved, that you matter, and we are proud that you are a Viking! Vikings are kind, compassionate, and caring, respectful, responsible, and resilient, and today, like every other day, it is a great day to be a Viking! Remember to charge those chromebooks and we will see everyone tomorrow.

During the school day, coats and all bags including backpacks and totes are to be left in lockers.
Our high school community closet is a place where students can donate and receive essential items such as food, clothing, school supplies, and toiletries. It is meant to help students who may not have access to these items or may be experiencing financial difficulties. This initiative promotes a sense of community and support among students. It is open each week during lunches to all high school students.
The JHS Teen Health Center is open each day for your child. Please reach out to them at 5177800838. They are available for mental health, wellness, and sports physicals.
